Older cars, what are my options?
My car is pre 1994 which has the old refrigerant in the system which is now unavailable as it is now illegal, What are my options?
There are two options available which are to convert the system to use r134a or use a replacement refrigerant such as ( Isceon 49 )
or rs24
|
 |
To convert the system to r134a requires extensive replacement of various parts of the system which can outweigh the value of the vehicle in both cost of parts and labour.
Be aware that you could be offered to convert it for a nominal sum, in this case the required work may not be carried out and will cause the system to fail and will be expensive to put right.

 |
Isceon 49 is a proven alternative replacement for R12 car air conditioning systems already used by thousands of air conditioning engineers .With little or no modifications required .It is compatible with existing oils, seals and hoses. It is the leading R12 replacement for car air conditioning systems therefore saving many hundreds of pounds converting the existing system to R134a. |

Do it yourself gassing
You may have seen in shops that canisters of R134a gas for refilling your ac system are available. Be advised that if your car a/c is low on gas then it needs to be emptied legally and vacuumed ( critical ) and leak tested before any gas can be added, As most cars hold more than what the canister holds you will need more then one which may cost more than having the job done properly.DONT RISK IT |

Sealant additives
With a growing trend to add sealants to a cars a/c system to cure leaks as a quick fix .We do not advise this method of repair.First possible expensive damage can be caused to the engineers equipment when recovering refridgerant from the system, second this can cause a knock on effect by it been passed into the next customer a/c system through contamination, secondly they are not effective. |
